Respecting Language and Cultural Difference:
Risk Reduction Work with Minorities

Child and Family Solutions has built considerable expertise in work with families whose origins are outside the United Kingdom, or whose first language is other than English. Work with these families requires accurate interpretation, and the worker has to pay careful attention not only to the language used but also to the influence of culture and religion upon the family dynamic and expectations.

We are fortunate to be able to call upon the services of expert interpreters who are also able to advise on the cultural context in which the risk reduction work takes place. Our experience is that cultural and language differences need be no barrier to effective risk reduction work.
